About Us

Piedmont Regional Feeding & Oral-Motor Clinic is proud to offer the NOMAS, Talk Tools, and Beckman Oral-Motor Protocols. The NOMAS is a diagnostic tool to differentiate between normal sucking, disorganized sucking, and disordered sucking in infants of gestational ages from 23 weeks and beyond. Research has shown that differentiation between these categories is crucial to the future of premature babies or of older children who were born prematurely or with neurological defects. Talk Tools is a systematic approach to achieve oral and facial myofunctional success. The Beckman Oral-Motor Assessment Protocol is a diagnostic and treatment tool used to determine oral motor delays and disorders (muscle strength, muscle coordination, and reflexive movements). The Beckman Protocol is useful in helping adults and children to develop appropriate mechanical muscle responses on a reflexive level, improve range of motion, and improve strength of oral/facial musculature that are crucial components for feeding, talking, and personal hygiene.
